About us
From Bagru to the World — A Family Legacy Since 1904
Nestled in Bagru, Jaipur — the very village where the art of hand block printing was born — Glimpex has been a name rooted in tradition since 1904. For over 120 years and four generations, our family has lived and breathed this craft, printing every block by hand in the same lanes and workshops where our great-grandfather first began.
Today, as the fourth generation of this family, I carry forward not just a business, but a legacy — one built on patience, natural materials, and an unshakeable respect for the artisans and techniques that make Bagru famous across the world.
Where It All Began — Bagru, Jaipur
Bagru is more than our address — it's the soul of what we do. This small town near Jaipur has been home to hand block printing for centuries, known for its distinctive mud-resist (dabu) technique and earthy, natural colour palette. Growing up surrounded by karigars (artisans), wooden blocks, and dye vats, this craft isn't something we learned — it's something we inherited.
Our Craft
Every piece that leaves our workshop is hand block printed and dyed using natural, chemical-free colours — a process that takes time, skill, and generations of inherited knowledge. We specialize in:
- Bagru Prints — Earthy tones and the iconic mud-resist technique, native to our own village and printed exactly as our forefathers did.
- Sanganeri Prints — Fine, intricate florals reflecting the delicate printing traditions of nearby Sanganer.
- Sarees, Unstitched Suits & Fabric Material — Crafted for those who value authenticity over mass production, with every yard carrying the mark of the human hand.
We choose natural dyes over synthetic ones because true craftsmanship should respect both the wearer and the earth — and because that's how it's always been done in our family.
Four Generations, One Promise
From our great-grandfather's first hand-carved block in 1904 to the sarees and suit sets we create today, our promise has never changed: genuine hand block printed fabric, made in Bagru, by a family that has never stopped believing in this craft. When you choose Glimpex, you're choosing over a century of heritage from the home of hand block printing itself.
